Social media has affected mankind in many ways, some of us utilize it as business tool, we advertise products on internet, as for entertainment purpose, we also will watch video that shared by our friends, or communicating with friends via instant messaging services. It has a huge impact on our daily life. However, besides all the benefits, it also has created cyber crime and cyber bullying, it's one of the major issue that concernd by global authority. 

Social media will afftet us in terms of mentally, physical health as well as psychologically. For instance, During previous general election, there're many rumors and misleading news spread around , and users shared without thinking twice and wise. Leaders reputation can be easily affected by social media, social media has become a battlefield for politicians, it also changed Malaysia political landscape. Social media will make our life more easier and comfort, but does it affect our thinking skill? when we read article or post online, do we think critically? think wisely? i doubt it. 

Apparently, social media become an important tool for government, regardless the ruling coalition or opposition party. They utilize it as a publicity tool, they shared their video that explains latest policy, government spokesperson delivering speech, or even the video footage of politcian servicing the community. The relationship between people representatives and voters are getting closer because of social media. We can exchange our opinion via Facebook or Twitter, nowadays we can even question our Prime Minister on Facebook. Government is taking seriously on social media, Selangor government and Penang government are offering free wifi zone for their people, they are taking advantages of social media.

Social media creating negative or positive impact on society? It's a controversial topic, some users is in trouble due to posting up offensive and disrespectful  comments on internet, some users become popular because of social media. Be a wise social media users, be a critical thinker, don't become a parrot.

(B4) Relation between Social Media and us

Social media have a big connection with our life. Nowadays, everyone cannot live without it. Some people say them don't use social media at all but slowly it will influence everyone. We can say almost every one who can understand or read, they are using social media in different form as communication, get information or know someone. What happen in our life all related with social media or we say, what happen in our life, we will put it on social media. A easy way to say, in generation of social media, everyone is a journalist.

Everyone will ask, it's have any impact that we get from social media. Let talk about positive impact first. As a student, we have more learning opportunity to get more information through social media and get interaction with people overseas and gain knowledge about them. We can gain more things other than knowledge in book and also know overseas culture and traditional practices. However, social media also create a lot of problem as cyber-bullying and negative issues among youngster. As cyber-bullying, they create some story or false information about someone and cause problem to them. The problem among youngster is the serious problem as youngster imitate the things that the read or watch from social media cause rape and violent case. However, we can say, this also cause seller do advertising on internet because it's useful than mainstream media. People always will buy things through online now or follow the style they see from internet.

Everyone will say is media influence our life, but do you ever think, we as a social media user and audience also influence or control social media trends? Social media also change that follow our favorite, they will focus on what we interesting and what we care about. Why false information happen? Why cyber-bullying happen? This is a question we need to ask ourself. Some of the social media create some issues just for attract more audience attention. Some more, internet have no censorship control, everything will be unfiltered before going through audience. There is a lesson always be a smart audience of social media.

Let get back to the topic of Malaysia. Will the government change with change in technology in Malaysia? As we can see all the things are improve and improving now. Government also come out with many new law and also things that make our country better. Just talk what we can see is all the billing system are coming out with online system now to convenient us. So, for my opinion, is a big yes to government.

Impacts of Social Media (blog 4)

What is currently the status of the end user?

Social media has become a trend in our lifestyle especially youngsters. It even affect the older generation like my dad's generation as he has a Facebook account himself. There are certainly pros and cons in social media. We use social media to connect with other people and foster our relationship with family and friends; however, it might be the other way round. Majority of us are active user. We use social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter particularly all the time as can be easily seen during lunch time, most of us is on smartphone scrolling on their social media site.

What impact will the audience have from social media?

Nothing is perfect same goes to social media. We all know how social media have helped us in different ways, unfortunately, it has a big impact on our lifestyle as in the way we want our lifestyle to be the same like those superstar or those famous people in the world. People tend to compare with each other on how good their life is. The way of thinking is different if were to compare with olden days. For example, couples in relationship demanding and comparing with friends around them. How their BFF's boyfriend treat their girlfriends with buying Chanel bag as present, it somehow affect you to compare and demanding for a Chanel bag from your boyfriend too. It somehow influences us to be more materialistic and comparing too much. Besides that, showing off too much on social media that you are rich by showing off how many branded bags or type of cars u drive might attract robbery and abduction cases especially if you have children. Abduction of children is rising nowadays. It is dangerous to put personal information and pictures on social media as we might not know what other people might do to you.

Another impact that can be seen obviously is lack of quality times with friends and family. As you can see young generation nowadays are too focus on their smartphone even when they are having dinner together with family. Sitting with each other face to face without talking to each other? There are families like that that they play with their phones most of the time. Quality times with family are meant to be more conversation and more stories to update your family members about your life and etc. Social media has somehow affected the relationship among family and friends.

What impact will social media have from the audience?

Feedbacks gained from the audience help social mediator to further their research and continue to innovate more useful technologies in the future that benefit us users.

Will the government/state change with this change in technology in Malaysia?

It will definitely change the technology in Malaysia compared to the days it was last time in terms of social, economic growth and politics. As a developed country, technology innovation is important in order to compete with other country and to reach our vision and mission of 2020.

Do media affect the society? 

          Media do affect society, us in all aspects of our lives. The influential and persuasive power bring impacts positively and negatively to the society. The positive effect bring by media is that audience no longer ‘obedient’ where they follow authorities and media blindly, they do have the abilities to judge who is on the correct or the wrong side; While the negative effect is most of the stereotypes and mindsets, violence and more negative issues are influence by how does the media portrayed all these issues to the audience without/ even with ‘filter’ process. 

What impact will the audience have from social media?

          In today’s world, social media have become so important and they have been blending in to our lives, and became one part in our lives. It is unimaginable, where our lives without social media. With the aid of social media, yes, we can connect to the people globally, even can get the latest news and information. However, the negative impacts brought by social media were inerasable. Most of the people are too obsessive with social media where we do not actually talk in person-to-person and this caused them to lack of interpersonal communication skills. Besides that, social media have also act as distractions in lives where people might keep on updating statuses, and checking for upcoming news, no matter they are having classes, breaks, or driving, and more.

What impacts will social media have from the audience?

  

          With the rapid growth of social media users, social media users no longer merely consume social media, but they require the best from social media. In order to compete with competitors and keep in trend, social media have to match the requirement requested by social media users by updating and improving their applications, by adding some other add-ons such as adding more fun games in Facebook, WeChat, Line and more, and also by upgrading their system to a more stabilized system. Social media is no longer solely connect to people, but also entertain their users.
