From this interviews of three different people, everyone has their own views about the topic 'Being a Malaysian'. Definitely it was one tough journey for us, Malaysian whenever we encounter something really bad, for instant, politics, it would be a "horrible" one. There was this incident May 13, 1969 that separated all races in the country because of the General Election. Further reading will be on the website below. Being a Malaysian is also not an easy thing or to be because of a few restrictions they have in Malaysia. Though we are so called a free country but we have limits. Our watchdog and security here is very tight and we are not allowed to criticise the Muslims/Malays because if we are doing it then we are in deep trouble.

Setting aside the bad news, ever since I was born and raised in Malaysia for 21 years, I have seen much peace and joy here compared to what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. Without "lepaking" in "mamak", we aren't Malaysian - quoted by one of the Malaysian Radio DJ and true enough, most of us, whether different races or language, goes to the mamak and hang out. Even my friends and I would enjoy going out to mamak stalls to watch football games or even discuss our homework there.
To be a Malaysian also we enjoy doing what we are doing and as for me, festive seasons is a time where we can see everyone is participating in a special occasion. We come together and visit each other's houses and the purpose of it is that we could strengthen our relationship between culture and races among Malaysians every year. This is what we called being a Malaysian like. We celebrate, we cry over our country's losses and fight for what's best for us in this nation.
p/s : lepaking in another word is called hanging out together, mamak is a street side restaurant.
Above all this, news report about race, religion and ethnicity affected me negatively and negatively because the government is a bunch of monkeys handling all this politics and the country. There comes a time where Malays will criticise Christians and other races because they think their religion dominates the country but no, we are one aren't we? "Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has stated that his vision of 1Malaysia is intended to counter the growing national divide between Malaysians on race, religion and other sensitive socio-cultural issues". He has also argued that the aim of the vision is to strengthen national unity on the basis of inclusiveness – “this policy means that we’ll try to be as inclusive as possible, in a sense that we should have a government that is able to reach out to all communities”. (Interview with CNN, Talkasia, Nov 1, 2010)" sources from http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/opinion/2012/12/16/1malaysia-concept-in-ashes/
1Malaysia concept's is to bring the nation and people together and that there is no war or miscommunication between the government and citizens but often in reality we realised that the government only speaks for themselves and only benefits them. This causes unfairness in the country because government uses propagandas such as the media to spread false rumours about the benefits of government. They, the government also touch on sensitive issues such as racial and religion such as criticism of Malay towards the Christians over the Allah issue. Malays said that Christians on the East Malaysia are not allowed to say the word 'Allah' because the name itself define as The Almighty and it is the only god for the Muslims. This news causes many of us especially Christians to be 'annoyed' by the ridiculous restrictions set by the government but nonetheless, I stayed calm and quiet as I believe they would not argue long about this issue. In my honest opinion, these people are jealous and they only believe that their Allah dominates the country but didn't they thought of the rest of the religion? This is definitely one of their dirty tricks to 'kick' us, Christians out of the country and they are definitely not considerate enough to be in this country.
News report will always be one sided and towards the government because they own most of them but we can choose to stand on our own and look at our perspective to judge.
