What is currently the status of the end user?

Social media became prominent to our lives especially for many young people today like me and you. There are certainly many positive aspects as well as equally many dangers that come with the use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace (the usual). We are very active in consuming social media with what technologies now has to offer like phones or tables that come together with internet data, WiFi, Hotspots and more. With all these, we have developed habits/addictions/hobbies in using social media. It’s not a bad thing, but it can be.

What impact will the audience have from social media?

There are many things that we can do with social media. With this, it yields both negative and positive effects in consuming the social media. We all know the goods because we use it and that’s how we can understand the good impact that has shaped us in becoming the person we are today. Apart from the positive effects, the negative side would be cyber bullying, addiction, health problems and so on… However, the recent impact gained from social media to the young people is their strange habit of internet consumption. That is one of the many scary facts about young people and the internet. They are being too open to public with personal information, most youth do not read websites’ privacy policies or may be unaware that their information is at risk of disclosure to third parties and became victims to advertisers or criminals. Teens and young adults and anybody who are updated with social media trends would most likely post photos and statuses and being open to having their personal information divulged or revealed. It can be a serious issue due to the rising rates of cyber crimes like identity theft. Besides that, people who share their personal lives in the internet could mean a lot of things, whether they are attention seeking, addicted or just simply their hobby in doing so. These impacts could mean either bad or good depending on how we are consuming it in the right way.

What impact will social media have from the audience?

It opens up many job opportunities in running businesses that are related in developing technologies in social media, be it the mobile applications, programmes, software and more. There will definitely be more sophisticated programmes that will continue to develop over time and continue to add more layers after layers to what we have now in updating the trend of technologies so that we are not “outdated”. IT consultants, advertisers, and many others will gain more profits as time and technology continue to grow due to the increasing amount of both new and loyal social media users.  Thanks to us right?

Will the government/state change with this change in technology in Malaysia?

Absolutely. The change will affect many aspects in Malaysia, be it the economics and politics. The advancement of technology provides more ways of usage in technology in social media, which means it would eventually gain the public more information and knowledge about the economic aspects of the country through social media. This will also become a platform of people being more politically involved due to the trend of consuming social media. With this, Malaysians will gain better understanding and will eventually yield an outcome of a better and improved Malaysia.
