Social media is not just social networking as internet
contains opinions, politics and valuable information. In my opinion, Malaysia
social media will not be censored. Even though, an information revolution has
been ignite by letting individuals to use social media platform such as
facebook, Twitter and Youtube to communicate, to learn, to teach and to protest
and somehow act as a threat to the government. However, Malaysia media will not
be censored, not that the government cannot, but is the fact that they do not
want to. Social media not just bringing them completely threat but in some way,
it does play an important role and benefit the government and the political
fact. Social media is the effective way for them to reach their citizen and a
way to promote and advertise themselves, as well as a tool to spread propaganda,
it has become the key battlefront during the election.

Besides, in this modern era it also plays an important part
in economic. If any technology pledged to break the constraint of geography,
overcome distance, and flatten the world, social media would be it. It is an
effective tool to advertisement to reach their target audience. Besides, as the
online commerce or e-commerce is growing social media has become a great contributor
to a country’s economic.
Facebook, Instagram and Youtube are the social networking
sites that I often consume. Facebook is to keep me updated on news, statues and
friend’s recent activity; Instagram is my “store” for me to do some small
trade. While Youtube is the social site that I consume the most, informative
videos and movies, both local and foreign free movie can be found on Youtube. It
can used for information usage and also a way to spend my spare time.
