(Week 3) Freedom of social media

Can social media be censored? 

Yes, why not? nowadays social media users utilizing it as a tool to insult our king, they have no respect to our king, our country. Furthermore, some irresponsible politicians always using social media disseminate misleading and false statement and information. The quality of politics will determine the quality of social. This kind of misleading information must be censored, it will affect stability in our country, especially in Malay community, our king is the head of Islam, the national symbol of our unity. I have seen many social media users insulted our country and our king. During the incident of MH370, i have even seen Malaysians condemning our country image, ridiculous! It's a national tragedy, we should work together and do what we have to do, not condemning, complaning, or being sarcastic. Please have mercy on the victim families and our beloved homeland. 

Voicing out our opinion on social media is a process of democracy, vulgar and harmful content can be censored, but not every words. Not website like Malaysiakini, although this website being biased, or a scholar post up a status to question the policy of government. It's is our freedom to voice out our opinion. The authority should respect thie freedom. Freedom is the root of democracy. Please treassure this freedom. I have been to China, I can't access Faceook in China, and the moment i realized freedom is not something people gave, it's something that we earn.

Finally. We have to be a responsible social media users, beware of our words on social media, it might cause us into trouble.  

What, how and why do we consume social networking site? 

I am a facebook user, i used it as a platform to exchange opinion with friends, i love to watch video or article that shared by others user, sometimes a good article or video will make my day. It's also my learning and information source. but i didn't reply heavily on it, i still prefer the traditional way, getting the info from newspaper, magazine and books, in fact i love the smell of paper. I also followed politicians on Faceook, i always find out what is their thought on current issue, Facebook is an indicator to me to judge the performance of politicians. I am also attached to Youtube, it's a window that i can discover the world, sometiems a picture speak thousand words, so the video speak million words. i viewd documentary on Youtube every 3-4 months, sometiems i also will watch highlight of football matched and sport event on Youtube, but recently the advertisement annoyed me. It's very disturbing.
